Liftoff!
I stood and watched a massive 50′ ash tree come down in my neighbourhood. The entire process took about 40 minutes. The most fascinating part was the end, where a crane with a giant claw (like they use in the logging industry) just lifted the enormous trunk right off the base – notice the perfectly straight cut from the saw – and gently laid it down on the road. Precision work, highly skilled workers, and a few gawking neighbours. It’s just way too sad to see something this size reduced to nothing in such a short time.
